0.4.0 -- Abilities & streamlined flow for testing
BounceBreak! » Devlog
This version streamlines the game flow and aims to implement features and fixes from the last round of playtesting. These changes ensure that a new player can play all of the content in around 5-10 minutes and that each player will play the same level layouts, which greatly helps with playtesting.
Major changes:
- “Endless” mode is now “BounceBreaker” mode and will end after a set of predefined levels.
- Added a basic Breakout mode that works as a tutorial for the rebound mechanic.
- New players must play the Breakout mode to unlock BounceBreaker.
- Added obstacles.
- Levels can have defined objects, instead of everything being procedural.
- Added ability system for special behaviors. The final level of BounceBreaker shows an example of a brick ability.
- Removed “Bonus Zone” mechanic.
- Reinstated shot start (input) location restrictions.
Minor changes:
- Added visual feedback for shot input direction.
- Added visual feedback when the player is aiming a rebound in swipe mode.
- Added visual feedback for the path of the ball after it “dies”.
- Updates to settings menus.
- Various bug fixes.
